Strategy

Golgari deathtouch-sacrifice Commander around The Serpent Society: whenever another deathtouch creature you control dies, each opponent sacrifices a nontoken creature. Cheap deathtouch bodies trade up or get sacrificed on purpose, the graveyard engine puts them back, and every loop drains the table's boards. The commander's ward — five poison counters — plus Fynn, the Fangbearer and Powerful Broker (who doubles a player's poison every turn) form a real secondary poison kill. Fight spells turn the fangs into removal: with deathtouch, any damage is lethal.

Roles

  • Threat: Fynn, the Fangbearer and the deathtouch corps, Desecration Demon taxing a sacrifice every combat, Lathril, Blade of the Elves and Massacre Wurm as the top end.
  • Removal: Bite Down, Knockout Maneuver and Punishing Punch are one-sided fights — with a deathtoucher they kill anything for 1-2 mana; Widow's Bite grants deathtouch AND -2/-2 at instant speed; backed by Hour of Defeat, Wander Off, Bitter Triumph, Cruel Alliance, Maelstrom Pulse, Gatekeeper of Malakir, edicts (Tribute to Hunger, Deadly Brew) and Vicious Rivalry plus Massacre Wurm as sweepers.
  • Card draw: Phyrexian Arena, Robot Domination (a card whenever creatures hit your graveyard), Midnight Reaper, Vampiric Rites, Visions of Villainy, Construct a Cosmic Cube.
  • Ramp: Llanowar Elves, Noxious Newt, Undercover Skrull, Environmental Scientist, Springbloom Druid, Burnished Hart, Gilded Lotus.
  • Protection: Swiftfoot Boots; the ward cost does the rest — targeting the commander hands its controller half a poison kill.
  • Lands: 37 with Skycoach Waypoint as a hidden engine — it re-prepares Emeritus of Woe // Demonic Tutor and Grave Researcher // Reanimate for a repeatable tutor every turn.

Synergies & curve

Low curve (bulk at 1-3) built for double-spelling. Core loop: deathtoucher dies — by blocking, by Vampiric Rites / Kingpin's Enforcers / Cauldron of Essence, or as a Deadly Brew edict — every opponent sacrifices, Vengeful Bloodwitch and Midnight Reaper convert deaths into drain and cards, then Teacher's Pest, Project Deathlok Soldier, Driver of the Dead, Nullpriest, Zombify and Too Evil to Stay Dead rebuild the board. Venom Connoisseur and Basilisk Collar turn everything else into trigger fuel; Vile Entomber entombs exactly the body Reanimate wants.

Turn one deathtoucher sideways into Punishing Punch for {G}: their best creature dies to double deathtouch damage — then sacrifice the same deathtoucher to Vampiric Rites, and the whole table sacrifices again.

Weak spots

Token armies blunt the commander's edicts. Top end is lighter than ideal — the deck wins by attrition, not one haymaker; adding a single bought copy of Witherbloom, the Balancer would fix that. Sweepers are limited to Vicious Rivalry and Massacre Wurm, graveyard hate is absent, and enchantment answers are thin (Reclamation Sage, Maelstrom Pulse). Bracket 2-3 casual table.
